Portfolio

Take a peek into my experience and who I work with.  I mainly focus on working with clients who are contributing to making the world a happier, more hopeful place, including pioneering biotechs, sustainability and local community focused organisations, as well as health and wellbeing brands.

Strategy & Content creation

As Content & Communications Manager at biotechnology start-up Sano Genetics, I was responsible for creating and implementing the company’s entire content strategy.

What I did:

  • Built and managed a multichannel comms strategy

  • Designed and wrote expert blogs breaking down tough-to-understand scientific concepts

  • Wrote, implemented and maintained key webpages

  • Created and managed social media & email campaigns

  • Crafted customised client-facing content for patients and sector specific professionals

  • Press releases

  • Co-produced The Genetics Podcast

  • Led on brand messaging and tone of voice

  • Designed and wrote a house style guide

  • Contributed to UX and product development

The result

When I made the decision to go freelance, Sano immediately hired me back as a consultant to support both their direct to patient and B2B communications. Two years later, we’re still working together on a weekly basis.🔥

Kind words from the client:

“Georgia, I have to say your emails are always my favourite!

Thank you so much. I really can't tell you enough just how much I appreciate you. Your diligence, your kindness, your speed!

I hope you know how valued you are.”

Thought-leadership features

for

While working with the European Bioinformatics Institute, I wrote and researched a thought-leadership article on the future of DNA storage for the institute’s Head of Research, Nick Goldman.

The piece was featured in Metro Online’s ‘Future of Everything’ series, boosting the institute’s profile in the United Kingdom's highest-circulation freesheet newspaper.

for

I placed, wrote and researched a thought-leadership feature on ‘How Microbiomes can Save the Planet’ for the CEO of a Cambridge-based biodata company.

I broke down highly complex topics to create a feature for Scientific American, the online edition of which receives millions of views per month.

Independent businesses

I support small businesses to take their products and services online or grow their brand to the next level. During the pandemic I supported bricks and mortar giftshop of 30 years, Talents, to take its business online for the first time with the launch of a brand new website and social media channels.

I worked closely with the business’s owners to create a brand tone and image which effectively represents the physical business in the digital world, creating a distinctive brand voice, website copy and product descriptions.

Other small and independent businesses I work with include:

  • Health and wellness coaches

  • Local dance schools

  • Independent entrepreneurs

Pipeline Strategy & Social Media

The needs of every business are unique but everyone is motivated by a common goal - onboarding and nurturing customers. That’s why my social media work isn’t just about creating pretty content to post, it’s built on a pipeline strategy that goes beyond Instagram to identify easy and effective optimisations across all comms channels (yes, that does include that long awaited website update!). Take a look at some of my success stories ☺️

I worked with collaborators to create the Harry Potter inspired cocktail account, ‘Fantastic Cocktails’. I sourced images, wrote recipes and identified trending hashtags, helping to build a following of thousands which resulted in a successful book deal with Skyhorse Publishing.

European Bioinformatics Institute

During my time working with EMBL’s European Bioinformatics Institute I managed the institute’s social media channels, incuding its 50k+ Twitter (X) following. I led the #predocsofembl campaign promoting EMBL’s PhD programme, sharing interviews with current students and encouraging applications from all over the world.

Wellcome Genome Campus

I collaborated with the world-leading Wellcome Genome Campus and Sanger Institute to develop and launch the Wellcome Genome Women campaign celebrating International Day of Women and Girls in Science. The campaign has now been running for more than three consecutive years.

Talents

I worked with independent retail veteran of 30 years, Talents, to launch an Instagram account for the business - securing more than 1,000 followers within the first month. I created campaigns and delivered workshops to the owners on how to gain followers, use hashtags and build campaigns.

Salsify UK

I am working with Bristol’s friendliest Salsa and Bachata school to refresh and grow its Instagram channel. Developing a strong tone of voice inline with the school’s values, designing new content streams and creating new content all underpin my pipeline optimisation strategy to bring more dancers to class.

Kind words from the client:

Working with Georgia has been a revelation! Georgia's clarity of communication with the target audiences is by far the best of the social media managers I have worked with. The video work has been creative and detailed.

Georgia is always asking questions to make you think and move your business's whole concept forward.

Thank you Georgia, you are a star!”
